30 Book Challenge and Bookopolis
Dear Parents,
Your child will embark upon an exciting reading challenge as a 4th grader called the 30 Book Challenge! All students are encouraged to read 30 (or more!) books during the course of the year. While each child has the freedom to independently choose the books they read, they will be reading a variety of genres that align with our units of study throughout the year. This exploring of a variety of literary fields will help broaden our readers’ horizons.
In class we will spend time discovering our “just right” books and learning more about traits and characteristics of genres. Instead of typical reading logs, reading progress will be logged and tracked on the website Bookopolis.com, which students can access from home or at school. This interactive site allows for sharing of books, reviews, and recommendations between students. They will each receive personal login information, which will be written on their passwords page in the front of their binder. We are looking forward to growing together as readers and exploring some new reading material!
